Robert Vargas III is an activist from Bexar County, Texas. He is a native San Antonian, a fourth-generation Texan, and the son and grandson of migrant workers. Robert's deep-rooted faith and love for his community fuels his commitment to making the world around him a better place.
He has served on numerous non-profit boards such as BEAT A.I.D.S., Bexar County Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Advisory Board, and the Fiesta Commission.
Professionally, Robert has been a marketing consultant for 18 years. His expertise spans political campaign management, strategic marketing, community relations, event management, and government affairs. He has worked with business owners, politicians, and non-profits to create strategies that help them accomplish their goals.
Robert has served several elected officials including; State Representative Ray Lopez, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Judge Mary Lou Alvarez, Democratic Party Chairwoman Monica Ramirez Alcántara, and Constable Leticia Vazquez.
Robert was elected to serve two terms as a member of the State Democratic Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party, representing Texas Senate District 26. In 2024, he was elected as President of the Texas Stonewall Democrats, the LGBTQ+ Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party. Subsequently, he was appointed as Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party Disciplinary Committee.
Recently, Robert was instrumental in the launch of the National Federation of Stonewall Democrats, for which he serves as a member of the Executive Council on the Board of Governors.
Throughout his life, Robert has used strategic thinking combined with political prowess to help make strides in the areas of criminal justice reform, voter access, workers' rights, political reform, as well as the advancement of the LGBTQ+ community. He dedicates his time in both his professional and philanthropic work to creating space so that everyone may live out the American dream as they see fit.
